The Communications Assistant works closely with public engagement, content and marketing experts to help produce print and online products and communication resources. This work supports public awareness, education and involvement in Metro projects and services and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. In this position, you'll play a key customer service role and will be on point to respond quickly to requests for design services and communication resources. You'll also be the go-to person for production support to implement Metro design standards.
Reporting to the media and marketing manager in the Communications Department, you will be part of a collaborative team led by the project coordinator and including the department coordinator and senior Visual Communications Designer. This is a part time position, 20 hours a week.
Core responsibilities focus on providing day-to-day help desk support for communication resources and publishing support for everything from templates, flyers and banners to branded apparel, digital ads and infographics. On any given week, you might find yourself helping with design production, cataloging images, working with a vendor to ensure the quality fabrication of an event banner or helping develop new systems and processes that will make it easier for your colleagues to access to the resources they need.
We are looking for a skilled multi-tasker and practical problem solver who understands how to work within brand standards, a technically adept quick learner who can provide helpful, responsive customer service, and a highly organized and detail-oriented team player. Beginning to intermediate technical proficiency in Adobe Creative Suites InDesign and Illustrator, and Microsoft Word and PowerPoint is required. Photoshop knowledge a plus.

High school diploma or G.E.D. and two years of administrative and/or clerical or design production work experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired knowledge skills, and ability required to perform the job.
Ability to work part time. Staff are expected to work three days each week, Monday through Friday in a combination of hours from 8 am to 5 pm that total 20 hours each week.
