Hyster-Yale is looking for an energetic individual who will have a positive influence on the Electric Drive Train team. As an engineer for this team you will be the point person for all mechanical development activities and participate in research, development, analysis and problem solving. Knowledge of regulatory requirements, specifications and provide oversight to installation, operation, maintenance and repair to ensure parts and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Be the Mechanical Design Engineering expert/contact in the group and be the single point of contact all mechanical development activities from start to finish
Research/Develop/Analyze/Troubleshoot designs, specifications, manuals, and other data relevant to all families of Electric Forklifts.
Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information as needed.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and reports as required.
Be aware of all regulatory requirements (globally) which affect control system design of forklift trucks
Perform Mechanical calculations and create models to meet defined performance, efficiency, life, and quality objectives
Investigate failures, and make recommendation/implement/document product enhancements
Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that parts and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
Write reports as required
Work with design teams to meet project timelines, cost, quality, and reliability objectives
BA/BS degree with 3-7 yrs experience (Master’s degree preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, product design, or related degree
Emphasis on mechanical systems with expertise in 3DVIA, CAD (Pro /E or Creo) and other modelling tools
Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and analytical methods, and strong background in the product development process
Experience and interest in industrial equipment (materials handling, automotive, agricultural or similar)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with and proficiency utilizing modeling programs: e.g., Matlab, Simulink, xPC, HIL, and Saber for electric circuit design analysis.
Understanding of Electric Motors for Traction and Hydraulic functions in mobile applications
CANbus networking experience
CAD design proficiency; e.g., Pro E Wildfire 4.0 with electrical design modules Pro Cabling and RSD
"Hands On" Test Lab experience, including EMC design/testing
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Project)
Practical understanding of Manufacturing Methods, Tolerances, and Practical Solutions
