The City of Portland, Parks & Recreation is seeking a Turf & Irrigation Management Assistant. This position is the communication link that coordinates between the maxicom central control system and field personnel to accomplish the goals of maximum water & energy use efficiency. This position will use working knowledge of irrigation systems and design & plan reviews to operate irrigation central control systems (Maxicom). This position will monitor utility consumption and billings, investigate and report on excessive or changing levels of use, report on investigations; review and comment on proposals, plans, specifications for improvement and construction projects and monitor/Assess condition of a wide variety of trees, shrubs and flowers on PP&R properties to ensure appropriate watering to reduce loss of plants and/or plantings. This positions will also collaborate with others develop and implement educational programs within Parks aimed at reducing and conserving water and energy.Long term and immediate problem solving under site limitations is required. This position will be asked to attend meetings, classes and trainings to keep up with industry standards and plan reviews as well as exercise independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines.
