General Position Summary:




This position is responsible for developing customer-facing and internal software for Columbia Sportswear’s portfolio of E-Commerce websites. Leveraging a thorough knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build reusable components and scalable features within an Agile team. The work will have high visibility to Columbia’s global audience across 40+ sites.


Responsibilities:

•Develop front end code for the web sites, kiosks, mobile applications, email marketing, and more
•Perform quality assurance on code, including cross browser and platform testing
•Participate as an active member of the Agile/Scrum process of the eCommerce development team
•Make technical recommendations related to user experience and capabilities
•Write technical documentation related to processes and specifications
•Maintain accurate records of completed changes and outstanding changes
•Research emerging technologies with the goal of applying these technologies to current and future projects
•Interpret and coordinate solutions for reported issues from Customer Care and IT
•Maintain positive open lines of communication with all Columbia Sportswear management, staff, and other departments in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization




Specific Job Skills:

•Strong knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JQuery, React, JSON, XML, and REST APIs
•Demonstrated skills in troubleshooting / root cause isolation with web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, JSON or XML, and Web Services
•Strong understanding of browsers, operating systems, and mobile form factors
•Experience with Git, Git Flow, pull requests, and other DVCS concepts
•Strong customer service focus with desire to deliver a high quality of service
•Ability to manage multiple ongoing work streams simultaneously and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
•Effective written and verbal communication skills




Preferred Job Skills:

•Strong JavaScript programming skills (Node,js, ES6+, promises, async/await
•Experience working in Agile development teams
•Experience with SalesForce Commerce Cloud
•Understanding of DRY principles
•Proficiency with Photoshop, creation of web ready graphics, and digital imaging

Qualifications:

•Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Design or a combination of equivalent education and experience
•3-5 years' experience as a Web Developer or Front-End Engineer through full lifecycle or web-based applications, from requirements gathering to deployment. Preferred experience with eCommerce or consumer facing web sites
