The Cultural Arts Facility Supervisor supports the Walters Cultural Arts Center by assisting with the coordination of our exciting Walters Cultural Arts Center Programs; a bi-monthly gallery series, arts education offerings for youth and adults, First Tuesday Gallery Openings, the Creative Connections Speaker Series, and many other exciting cultural events! Hours generally take place on weekdays, between 9 am and 6pm (approximately 20 hours per week) with flexibility to support some evening events.

Candidates should be organized and detail oriented with thorough follow-through, possess the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, and enjoy engaging with the public. Strong communication and time management skills are essential to assist in moving our programs from coordination to presentation. The Facility Supervisor interacts with artists and instructors, assists with logistical support for gallery and arts education programs, works with staff to promote programs, events and classes; provides day-of event supervision, and more.

General Statement of Duties
The principal function of an employee in this class is to prepare and supervise building set-up, building rentals and various programs specific to the functional area of assignment. The work is performed under the supervision and direction of an assigned supervisor, but considerable leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgement and initiative. The nature of the work performed requires that an employee in this class establish and maintain effective working relationships with the assigned supervisor, City employees, other agencies, program participants, school officials, and the general public. The principal duties of this class are performed in a recreational facility. This is a non-exempt position.

Acceptable Experience and Training
• High School Diploma or GED; AA, BA or BFA in Fine Arts, Arts Education, Art Administration, or related field is preferred; and
• Some previous work experience in a related field; or
• Any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

• Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record.
