The Information Security Architect for the Port of Portland is the primary defender of the Port's information systems and data and utilizes a variety of next-gen security tools and practices to defend, detect and respond to current and emerging threats. This role is not boxed into any one specific cyber security discipline but will skillfully perform in a variety of areas such as security architecture and advising, threat analysis, vulnerability management, penetration testing, intrusion detection and incident response, vendor security management, and compliance with regulations such as PCI-DSS and CJIS.

Cyber Security at the Port of Portland is a team sport and the Information Security Architect works hand-in-hand with IT operational teams, business customers, and external partners to implement, maintain, and improve elements of the Port Information Security program. Through a variety of training methods such as written articles, presentations, and live security exercises, you will help to spread security awareness to the entire Port of Portland community.

We are not expecting you to be the rare unicorn who comes in with all these skills on day one, but a successful candidate will have the motivation, aptitude, and attitude to grow into a Cyber Security Superstar.


At least five years' work experience in the area of information systems security with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems OR any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties (required)
We are looking for someone that has technical knowledge that includes current Windows operating systems, Active Directory, programming/scripting languages, IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, TCP/IP, and network technologies.
It is preferred but not required, that you have had some experience with processes including review of contracts and development of security policies, standards, or procedures.
Experience with utilizing and administering one or more security architectures and associated components (examples include firewalls, endpoint security, vulnerability scanners, identity and access management technologies, VPN, Web application firewalls, and log event collection/correlation).
Experience with security operations disciplines such as vulnerability management, cyber threat analysis, intrusion detection, and incident response preferred.
Experience regarding penetration testing, risk assessments, and security standards for application development (e.g. OWASP Top 10) preferred.
One or more certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, ISACA or other equivalent certifications is highly desirable but not required.
This position is located at the Portland International Airport and the successful candidate must be able to pass a Department of Homeland Security/TSA background verification.

Ability to maintain familiarity and understanding with current cyber security trends including vulnerabilities, attack techniques, countermeasures, emerging cyber defense technologies, and incident response techniques.
Ability to work on-call and off shift as needed in the event of an information security incident or other issues.
Skilled at performing risk assessments and penetration tests
Skilled at evaluating vendor contracts and recommend contractual remedies for identified information security risks.
Skilled at developing and revising information security policies, standards, and procedures.
Ability to Show the utmost respect for others and is a proven team player.
