Training Program Supervisor

Job overview: The Training Program Supervisor is responsible for the successful operations of Relay Resources’ training programs with initial emphasis on the Janitorial training program. The Training Supervisor brings advanced knowledge in skills training best practices, training curriculum development, instructional methods, and training resources. This role serves as a subject matter expert and training program liaison and works in collaboration with teammates across Human Resources, trainers, and department managers and supervisors to develop and implement skill training and career development training for each of Relay’s social enterprises.

Wages & Benefits:

Shift: M-F 11:00am-7:30pm (Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional nights and site visits)
Wage: $50,000 - $54,000 per year

Duties & Responsibilities:

Janitorial Training Program

Collaborate with trainers to ensure successful trainee outcomes
Develop and refine janitorial training program metrics and key performance indicators; analyze metrics and make recommendations to the Learning and Development Manager and janitorial managers
Work with trainers and janitorial managers to establish and refine training curriculum, training materials, and trainee performance standards
Manage the transition from recruitment to training to employment
Assist trainers in delivering Readiness Week and main campus training when coverage is needed

Skill Training and Career Development Training

Collaborate with department managers and supervisors for each of Relay’s business lines to develop onboarding and continued skills and career develop training

Supervision and Employee Development

Supervise trainers, including overseeing work assignments and balancing workloads
Support the professional development of trainers
Work to resolve conflicts within Relay’s training programs


Oversee payroll for trainers and trainees
Manage trainers schedules and time off
Schedule and conduct training meetings and other meetings as required
Assist in tracking completed training across all of Relay’s business lines
Participate in and lead meetings as required


Responsible for ongoing communication regarding training program developments with internal and external stakeholders
Develop and maintain open lines of communication across the HR team
Ensure trainee accommodations are being honored whenever feasible
Connect trainees with the Employee Resource Specialist to ensure trainees have the resources they need to be successful

Trainee Recruitment

Collaborate with Relay’s recruitment team to develop recruitment strategies for training programs and strategically engage referral partners
Meet with HR teammates frequently to share information on trainee outcomes, incoming trainees, and to work together on Ability One-related and training-related initiatives (e.g. janitorial training exit interviews)

Field Work

Visit training sites and routes to review progress, onsite training materials and the hurdles to vocational training and conduct training on site

Qualifications and Experience:

5+ years’ professional teaching or training experience
2+ years’ in the janitorial field strongly preferred
Strong curriculum development and training program management experience
Strong computer skills including MS Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
Experience working with adults with a wide range of disabilities
Excellent interpersonal skills and teaming skills
Ability to work independently and to prioritize multiple simultaneous projects and deliverables
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including listening
Valid driver’s license, safe driving record and reliable transportation to get to and from Relay work sites
Ability to work a flexible schedule including swing shift
Ability to pass criminal history background check and/or fingerprinting as appropriate at any time during employment.

Work Environment:

Flexibility in work schedule with Learning and Development Manager prior approval. Job requires frequent walking, bending, stooping, lifting and carrying 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Supervisory Requirements:

Ability to work with limited supervision and make independent decisions about matters of moderate complexity
