As Columbia Sportswear’s Cloud Enterprise Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Columbia’s Cloud strategy for technology innovation and transformation. At Columbia we know a thing or two about trails, and you will be a guide in navigating the path towards Columbia's Cloud future. You’ll work as a thought leader, collaborating with multiple teams to navigate industry advances and map effective Information Systems and Cloud practices. You'll develop and maintain architecture planning in collaboration the Director and broader architecture team. In this influential role you will have the opportunity to shape significant parts of the architecture vision, principles and practices within our organization.
•Contribute significantly to enterprise architecture strategy, vision, road map, and standards to meet Columbia business objectives.
•Collaborate with Columbia teams to design effective IS infrastructure, enterprise solutions, Cloud technology and architecture, while supporting key Columbia projects.
•Participate in a strong team-oriented environment, with evolving modern technology practices.
•Be a strong advocate and contributor to Cloud strategy, architecture and implementation at Columbia.
•Contribute to an ecosystem of highly available, reliable, resilient and cost-effective systems.
•Analyse and document the current architecture state, be a major contributor to the desired future state and create roadmaps to transform the IT landscape.
•Research and monitor industry technology trends to drive strategic and innovative change. Make recommendations on the use of emerging technology.
•Consult with other architects and project team members to develop and validate architectures across a wide variety of projects and systems.
•Create, maintain, and publish enterprise reference architectures with appropriate level of detail.
•Develop standard patterns and practices that encompass technology selection and adoption for IS infrastructure and Cloud services.
•Asses risk and opportunities for improvement in the landscape, and make concrete recommendations for implementation.
•Document the Columbia technology ecosystem including: existing systems, platforms and solutions.
•Participate as a key member of the Architecture Team.
•Review project technical planning, infrastructure design, and Cloud practices for alignment with standard practices and long-term strategy.
•B.S. / B.A. in Computer Science or related field or 10+ years related experience
•10 + years of IT experience with growth in responsibility and expanding technical expertise
•5 + years architecting effective and transformational information technology implementations
•5 + years designing modern and effective data center implementations
•Evaluation of Cloud hosting architectures across a broad range of solutions and platforms
•Collaboration on processes for successful Security and Operations outcomes
•Architecting for effective enterprise solutions using experience across a broad range of solutions
•Hands-on design and administration experience on a major Cloud platform (Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWS)
•Experience as an engineering
technical lead, lead architect or related positions •Prior hands-on experience with DevOps and pipeline orchestration platforms (e.g. Chef, Puppet, Ansible)
•Virtualized data center management using VMWare technology (Hosts, Storage, Compute, Optimization,Recovery)
•Microsoft Windows Server platform engineering: design, management and operations
•Technology innovation in enterprise data centers and related enterprise solutions
•Strong history of self-directed study, industry research and technology analysis
•Excellent technical communication with a variety of audiences
•Use Microsoft Visio and other diagramming and presentation tools for effective communication
•Contribute in a team environment;work with users of all levels to architect innovative solutions
•Show sound judgment and decision-making, and an appropriate sense of urgency for driving process towards quality architecture engagement
•Experience in customer-centric infrastructure and data center management teams preferred
