During the school year, Camp Fire Columbia offers after-school programming at 15 schools in Portland and West Linn. We work with students from Kindergarten to 5th grade offering homework help to facilitating enrichment clubs. Through our after-school programming we empower youth to find and pursue their passions. Each year, Camp Fire Columbia seeks candidates like you to fill positions for the school year.
Site Instructor Position Overview: Part-Time seasonal (School year: Now -June 12, 2020)
Camp Fire Columbia Before and After School program is looking for Site Instructors for the 2019-2020 School Year. You will be responsible for planning and teaching lessons for up to 15 youth, while assisting in entire group programming for up to 85 students with your team. The Site Instructor will help achieve youth development goals by engaging program participants in academic enrichment and support, creative arts, active recreation, community building, service learning, and leadership activities.
Site Instructors collaborate with their site teams on program planning, communication, behavior management, and general site operations; as well as across site teams to support the overall success of the Camp Fire Before & After School program. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to building positive working relationships with participants, families, community partners, and school staff.
Salary and Benefits:
Compensation: $13.40-15.00/hour *pay differential for staff working in West Linn school district due to school wait lists and public transportation options
Benefits: Paid training and planning hours, 401K with match, paid volunteer time and paid sick time benefits available to part-time staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Directs instruction of participants in a before and after school program setting while maintaining program expectations and behavior management.
Creates project-based learning activities and creates and writes lesson plans from various resources and active engagement of participants in learning.
Understands and follows Office of Child Care licensing policies and support Site Supervisor in maintaining site/program to comply with state licensing standards.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree or Master's degree (preferred) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous experience instructing in an afterschool program environment that involves solo teaching, outcome-based lesson planning and current best practices in youth development, and behavior management for students. Working knowledge of youth development and programming, including best practices in mentoring, academic enrichment, youth adult partnerships, life-skills, and leadership development is strongly preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
This position also requires a valid Oregon Food Handler's card and First Aid & CPR certification and OCC Basic Safety Set Trainings, plus >15 hours of approved professional development per license year. Oregon Central Background Registry; Step 8 or above on the Oregon Step Registry
