REPORTS TO: Program Manager, Youth Education and Wellness

COMPENSATION: $39,200-$48,600 Annually or $18.85-$23.37 Hourly .75 (30 hours a week) FTE Non-Exempt

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Latino Network seeks a bilingual, bicultural mission-driven professional with proven experience in the implementation of health and sexuality programming for middle and high school aged youth and parents. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with team members internally and with key partners externally to coordinate and implement a sexuality education program.

The Coordinator must have an excellent understanding of implementing program development best practices and effectively implementing positive youth sexuality education and health promotion programs. They will work closely with the Youth Education and Wellness Program Manager as well as other staff across the organization to coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation aspects of the programs. The Coordinator will be self-motivated, able to implement complex projects, develop timelines, and promote Latino Network’s vision and mission

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position will support the success of the Youth Education and Wellness Programs, by implementing sexuality education programs for Latino youth and parents in school-based and community-based settings, as well as supporting other Latino Network staff to implement the curricula in their programs. As such, travel to sites across Multnomah County is required, and potentially to our Washington County office, both during the week and on occasional Saturdays. The job will include program development, curriculum assessment, implementation, and attending meetings with external partners.

This position requires excellent follow-through; high attention to detail; professional writing skills; and excellent communication through in-person meetings, phone, e-mail, and group communication with Latino Network community partners, staff, and program participants.

Requirements
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Carry out the program implementation plan, including logistics, coordinating with other teams and departments within Latino Network, outreach and recruiting, and data collection
Train and support other staff in their learning of youth and adult sexuality curricula
Work with Youth Education and Wellness Program Manager, program directors and school- and community-based staff to plan the logistics for implementing the curricula
Implement program-specific evaluation and assessment plans developed in-house or with program partners, including inputting data into multiple databases
Connect with other similar community-based programs to learn from and/or collaborate, if appropriate
Document program practices and methods for program sustainability
Provide information for program updates and reports as necessary for funders
Attend relevant local conferences and trainings to inform best practices
Establish a safe, fun and youth-focused environment where participants are encouraged and supported in the development and strengthening of social, leadership, and academic skills and behaviors
Interrupt negative behaviors and language regarding gender, sexual orientation, violence, etc. firmly, compassionately and without stigmatizing participants
Demonstrate leadership to ensure conduct, safety, accountability, and development of participants
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in health-related field or 4 years of relevant health program experience
Demonstrated experience implementing sexuality education programs
Excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish and English
Demonstrated outcomes in developing and implementing health and wellness programming for youth and adults
Experience in implementing programs for Latinos preferred
Demonstrated ability to effectively train colleagues in sexuality education curricula
Knowledge of culturally based worldview, adaptive reasoning, and problem-solving practices of Latino individuals, families, and community living in urban neighborhoods impacted by crime, poverty, and racial inequity
Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, trauma-informed care and strengths-based practices
Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, youth who may be involved in gangs or impacted by them
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with schools, students, families, and community support systems
Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Demonstrated consistency in following instructions and implementing strategies
Ability to be flexible and adaptive to successfully achieve the functions of the position as described in the job responsibilities
Experience and training needed to perform the functions of the position as described in the job responsibilities
ADDITIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Successful completion of initial and ongoing employment screens, including but not limited to criminal background and vehicle record as required
Must have a valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation and the ability to meet individuals in their own homes, academic settings, and other community settings, including transporting participants as needed
Automobile liability insurance preferred; must be eligible to be an insured driver under Latino Network’s Commercial Auto Liability
Office setting requires sitting and typing for extended periods of time (the office is a shared community space)
May require lifting and moving boxes and other items as needed (twist, bend, reach, carry items up to 20 lbs. and think strategically about how to properly move heavy items)
Regularly work in the office and in the community (schools, churches, parks, community centers, etc.) as needed
Evening and weekend availability may be required, and work hours are flexible to accommodate program implementation; long hours during peak periods
