Close Date: 01/31/2019

Can you recommend anyone for this position? Our Roadway Design Technicians step into the role with an engineering degree and we’re dedicated to helping them earn their professional registration.
Job description
If you’ve earned your engineering degree and you’re charging ahead toward your professional registration, then OBEC is a good fit for you. Join our team in either Eugene or Lake Oswego to immediately put your skills to work and be fully supported to earn your PE stamp.
Summary
This position is the place to be for entry-level engineering professionals with an Engineering in Training certification and a comprehensive understanding of roadway geometry, alignments, and earthwork calculations. Ideally you will have 1-4 years of experience as a junior designer or engineering intern. Your basic CAD experience using AutoCAD and/or Microstation will allow you to perform moderately complex engineering calculations, and you will have intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs (Outlook, Word, Excel).
We will push you to hone not only your engineering skills, but also your ability to perform as part of a dynamic team that works with several clients on numerous projects.
When you get to work each day, you’ll do small work that becomes part of large results. Your analysis and writing will fit into reports that inform clients’ and project managers’ major decisions. Your detailed calculations and design support goes directly into final bid packages that contractors use to build our region’s infrastructure.
As much as more senior team members rely on you to do impeccable, timely, and detailed work, you can rely on them to be proactive mentors – talking with you about your career goals and giving you achievable assignments that push you to excel. Flexibility to take on a range of assignments means that you’ll be comfortable with not only design and CAD software but also the range of critical project administration duties that includes attending meetings, writing correspondence, and compiling reports.
It takes a team to move a project from concept to final plans, specifications, and engineering estimates. In this role, you’ll take on increasingly complex parts of that process as you build the skills and experience you need to advance your career.
