Metro's Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) team is looking for a dynamic, versatile, self-motivated copywriter and collaborator to increase awareness and excitement inside the organization and across communities in greater Portland about Metro's diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
It's time to lift up the voices of staff and community members and to make sure that more people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and others who have been left out in the past, feel welcome at Metro and are supported at all levels. There are a lot of untold stories to tell, events to promote and connections to make.
The ideal candidate has a strong writing voice that can flex between marketing and journalism and across channels and products. We're looking for a hands-on marketing copywriter attuned to strategy who can grab and hold people's attention with an engaging headline and compelling call to action. You should feel as comfortable producing talking points and hammering out an executive summary as you do drafting a social media post or crafting a substantive Metro News story that reaches people from different backgrounds in an authentic and meaningful way. We're looking for someone who's adept at uncovering the human connection that brings a story to life.
Working under the general direction of the DEI program director, this position reports to the media and marketing manager in the Communications Department. The marketing copywriter will work as part of a collaborative team led by the internal communications coordinator and including the DEI organizational impact program manager, engagement staff and in-house design staff.
