Work Schedule, Hours, FTE, Salary:
FTE: 0.45 FTE, Part Time (18 hours/week)
Schedule: Approx. 9:30am-2:00pm, Monday-Thursday
Salary Rate: $15.00 per hour
Location: Remote, Telework. Portland, Oregon area; Occasional meetings at OHSU (Marquam Hill Campus)

Functions/Duties of Position:
This position assists with the implementation of clinical trials under the Layton Aging & Alzheimer's Disease Center in the Department of Neurology. The Layton Center is an NIH/NIA-funded Alzheimer’s Disease Center, and as such, is an active participant in national and international efforts to understand and develop treatments for Alzheimer’s disease; the Layton Center conducts studies of promising treatments, technologies for patient support, genetics, neuroimaging and pathology. This position's primary responsibility is conducting semi-structured conversations via internet-based video chats and weekly telephone calls with socially isolated adults ages 75 and above who have healthy normal cognition or mild cognitive impairment. The aim of the I-CONECT study is to assess how the brain responds to social interaction. These study participants will be located in Portland, Oregon and Detroit, Michigan. The regular hours for this position are 9:30am-2:00pm Monday through Thursday. Staff fulfilling this position will be provided with equipment (MacBook, additional monitor, headphones, etc.) to conduct the video chats and telephone calls while working remotely. Staff will need to have a consistently quiet, private place to work, and they should have access to high-speed internet. Staff will also need to live locally in the Portland Metro area in order to attend occasional meetings at the Marquam Hill campus. Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills and an ability to connect with older adults from various backgrounds is required. This position will also administer questionnaires and will be responsible for entering data into the study’s database, as well as participating in the data verification process. Further, staff will need to understand video chat technology in-depth to conduct troubleshooting to participants. Therefore, familiarity with technology interfaces and comfortability with multitasking is beneficial.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree (4 yr) / No experience, OR Associate's degree (2 yr) and 2 years of relevant experience, OR No degree and 4 years of relevant experience
• Working knowledge of scientific method and human subjects research
• Ability to speak and communicate clearly, and demonstrate a high level of professionalism
• Ability to interact patiently and respectfully with elderly volunteers
• Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint
• Proficiency with operating multiple tasks on a computer with dual monitors
• Attention to detail
• Accountability and motivation to work independently
• Enthusiasm about scientific research and a team-oriented approach
• Must be able to sit at a computer for 40 minutes without a break

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with senior population
