This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday 7am to 3:30pm. The location for this position is in NE Portland position in one of our Secure Residential Treatment facilities.
The Cook is responsible for the preparation of meals to be served in Cascadia’s Residential program sites while complying with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards and following established food production policies and procedures, in accordance with all state and local health regulations. With the high prevalence of trauma among individuals receiving mental health services, it is required the Cook understand the effects of trauma on health, coping, and other aspects of the lives of those we serve.

Upon hire, you will complete a week long paid training and then continue to train onsite in your new job. During the first week of training, you will learn about the agency, understanding those we serve, Trauma informed care, and other skills to prepare you for significant and meaningful work in the behavioral health field, whether you are providing clinical services or non-direct services.
Oregon food handler card
2 years of professional cooking experience with institutional and high volume cooking
At least 18 yrs. of age
Knowledge of commercial food service equipment
Experience with preparation of special diet meals
Ability to utilize a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
Ability to use and modify recipes, provide accurate portion sizes and ensure that the meals are prepared utilizing proper food preparation and handling techniques
Ability to use Outlook email and computer software systems for food ordering and prepare simple reports
Must be able to read and speak English at a level to read menu and recipe cards and cooking instructions
Possess a valid driver’s license, three-year driving history; clean driving record, ability to pass Driver Motor Vehicle (DMV) check and complete the Cascadia online Defensive Driving course and Cargo Van Drivers Test
