Manager of Plant Maintenance – Beaver Plant (R18-827)
This position is located in picturesque Clatskanie, OR

In this position, you’ll maintain and oversee replacement, installation and maintenance of generation plant equipment and structures; you’ll identify, analyze and implement predictive maintenance; maintain plant computer and control systems; collect and analyze maintenance data.
Manages a team of energy generation staff responsible for maintaining power plant electrical, control and/or mechanical equipment in safe, efficient and economical working condition; provides technical management for the team, ensures that objectives are met and all relevant standards/procedures and regulations (environmental and safety) are followed; ensures that maintenance problems are identified and resolved; ensures that fleet and/or plant maintenance procedures and working practices are current and fit for the purpose; responsible for the safe execution of work.
You will support our journey by:
Managing the Maintenance Program for the Beaver Generating Plant, including directing the development, implementation and execution of maintenance programs including preventive, diagnostic and analytical maintenance practices and procedures for the plant; ensuring a high degree of plant availability and reliability; managing all maintenance planning and scheduling activities including achieving corporate goals for scheduled outages; maintaining maintenance performance metrics and providing trend information to the plant manager; working with other functional areas and plant management to balance goals and costs to achieve best results; developing, administering and enforcing procedures and policies for plant maintenance; representing the plant on capital projects affecting the project site.
Managing Contracts including administering the plant maintenance and related contracts; providing oversight of contractor activities; managing equipment warrantees and the resolution of warranty issues
Procuring and warehousing, including overseeing procurement and warehousing of spare parts for the plant; ensures that all materials procurement practices comply with PGE SOX guidelines.
Emergency Planning/Response, including assisting the plant manager with implementation of an emergency action plan; developing and maintaining procedures for effective plant operation, testing, startup and shutdown, and for operating equipment in emergency situations; leading and/or participating in periodic staff training in carrying out the plans for the plant as it relates to floods, earthquakes, fire, equipment or structural failures and other emergencies.
Providing leadership in safety, including overseeing safety programs and policies; ensuring compliance with plant and corporate safety practices.
Monitoring and managing financial expenditures, ensuring that all financial targets are met, and examining any areas where budgets/expenditures vary from plan; assisting with the definition and operation of effective financial controls and decision making.
Overseeing resourcing decisions and planning for team; partnering with HR in the definition of jobs, recruitment, evaluation and selection processes.
Reviewing organizational development needs and training strategies to determine required learning and development outcomes for the team; provides guidance in the creation of development plans; monitoring ongoing progress and providing coaching and mentoring, providing feedback; completing annual performance management reviews.
You will bring the following skills to our team:
A Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline or equivalent experience.
Eight or more years of industrial production experience, including five years as a supervisor in maintenance or planning and scheduling. Prefer previous experience managing bargaining employees.
Advanced knowledge of the fundamental electrical and mechanical aspects of power plant systems
Advanced knowledge of plant mechanical, electrical and control systems and equipment
Advanced knowledge of policies, procedures, principles and practices required for operating and maintaining an electric generating plant
Working knowledge of FERC, NERC, EPA, OSHA, DEQ and DOE requirements and regulations
Advanced knowledge of the electric utility industry and technology
Intermediate knowledge of labor relations, including retained management rights and applicable union contracts and local work rules
Intermediate knowledge of budgetary and planning practices
Working knowledge of fundamental engineering/economic principles and concepts
Working knowledge of contract administration and managing relationships with construction contractors
Working knowledge of company financial reports
Advanced skill in using maintenance management software
Advanced skill in root cause troubleshooting and analyzing test or performance data to assess equipment operation
Intermediate skills in computer systems, including Microsoft Office
Advanced analytical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills; business acumen.
Advanced organization and prioritization, project management, and risk management skills.
Advanced written and oral communication skills.
Ability to consistently meet attendance standards for regular, reliable, predictable, full-time attendance
Ability to work on-call schedule.
A valid driver’s license and history of safe driving practices.
