Position Summary:
This position involves responsibility to advise and provide program support to prospective and current students in conjunction with the rest of the team in the College of Arts and Sciences Advising Center (CASAC). This position focuses on advising undergraduate students primarily in Communication, Neuroscience, Humanities and Psychology as well as other disciplines as necessary.
Core responsibilities include: career and curriculum advising, assessing academic level of students utilizing course transfer evaluations and transcripts, responding to academic inquiries, developing individual academic plans, actively supporting student retention and participating in recruitment activities for the College of Arts and Sciences.
This position will also provide proactive outreach and service to currently enrolled students to ensure retention goals are met and exceeded. This also involves coordinating with WSU advisors in other colleges and participation in ROAR orientations and other university-related recruitment events.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of full-time academic advising experience at a college or university or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.

Accreditations: WSU Foundations of Academic Advising training expected within six (6) months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree preferred.
Experience advising in the liberal arts, sciences or related programs.
Experience working in higher education.
Experience working with a diverse student population, including non-traditional, first generation college students, veteran and underrepresented student populations.
Demonstrated knowledge with electronic student information systems utilized in higher education such as PeopleSoft, Banner, etc.
Experience working effectively in a team environment.
Demonstrated knowledge in Microsoft applications such as Word, Outlook and Excel.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
