Clackamas County is seeking an experienced, highly skilled, dynamic, and creative tourism professional with excellent management, organizational and interpersonal skills to serve as the next Executive Director for our Department of Tourism & Cultural Affairs (TCA). Our Executive Director is responsible for planning, managing, directing and integrating programs and operations of comprehensive, County-wide tourism, recreation, heritage, arts, culture and economic development programs and projects, and the acquisition, development and maintenance of County Tourism facilities.

The Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs works with a wide variety of agritourism, recreation, cultural and heritage groups and partners to develop and promote tourism assets, attractions, events and facilities in Clackamas County. TCA provides programs and services to County visitors, communities, residents, businesses, stakeholders, other government partners at the local, state, and federal levels though the administration of the County's Transient Room Tax (TRT). The TRT is dedicated to the promotion and development of Tourism in the County. The Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs also coordinates related arts, cultural and heritage programs and assets, and administers the Hood/Gorge Regional Cooperative Tourism Program (RCTP) under Travel Oregon, and works in partnership with the Willamette Valley Visitor Association on the Willamette Valley RCTP, and with Travel Portland and Washington County on the Portland Region RCTP.


The ideal candidate for this position will be an experienced tourism and/or destination management manager/director who has a history of excellent judgment under pressure. To lead TCA, the Executive Director must understand the risks, cost factors and opportunities in strategic tourism planning and programming, marketing, communications, public engagement, partner and industry relations, public and legislative relations, board development and management, and leading a high performance team of professionals.
