OVERVIEW:

The Tigard's Public Library is currently recruiting for two (part-time, 20 hours per week) positions in the Circulation division. The Tigard Public Library is a thriving, forward-thinking work place. We serve the community by promoting reading and providing access to materials in all formats. The library fosters lifelong learning and provides an array of programs and services to encourage the development of well-rounded citizens.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

◦Serves at the circulation desk; checks library materials in and out; issues library cards; checks library application information to ensure accuracy.
◦Processes new and current books, audiovisual materials, periodicals and paperbacks.
◦Adds new materials to the current computer database.
◦Receives shipments of new library materials. Updates the database with the status of purchase orders.
◦Communicates with patrons in person or by telephone regarding library information such as library materials, or services and refers them to the appropriate sources of information and staff.
◦Performs other duties as assigned.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: •Equivalent to a high school diploma AND
•One (1) year of experience in library services.

Schedule: The schedule is to be determined However, one evening and one weekend day each week will likely be required.
