OVERVIEW:

Tigard is looking for an Assistant City Manager with a passion for delivering high quality services, strengthening community connections and leading by example. The Assistant City Manager will engage stakeholders, manage strategic relationships, lead teams and provide direction in coordination with the City Manager and Tigard City Council.

In addition to direct responsibility for a set of departments, this position will lead the city's functional efforts related to a new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative, strategic plan implementation efforts, or departmental performance audits. It will have high internal and external visibility, and requires advanced interpersonal, leadership, and verbal and written communication skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Tigard's next Assistant City Manager will be someone with strong local government and public policy experience. The strongest candidates will have a proven record of successful project management, leadership and supervision.

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: •Five (5) years increasingly responsible experience as a manager for a public agency (preference for city and/or county government experience) at least two years of which should include full supervisory duties of other management staff; and
•a bachelor's degree in public administration, public policy, or related field.
•A master's degree is strongly preferred.
