The Project Management Office (PMO) Manager is responsible for leading a team of project management and business analyst professionals within the Information Technology Services Project Management Office, while also taking on direct responsibility for managing some projects. The PMO is responsible for a diverse project portfolio that includes initiatives ranging from implementation of enterprise infrastructure, applications implementations, and efforts relating to compliance and cyber security. This position is part of the ITS leadership team and will be a key contributor to establishing and implementing the strategic direction of the division and aligning resources with the business needs of end-user departments.
Ideally, the incumbent in this role will have demonstrated success as a leader of project management and business analyst professionals in a formal Project Management Office. This role requires effectiveness in leading and conducting needs analysis, assisting with the development of business focused strategic roadmaps, defining project plans, directing the execution of those plans, and the measurement of the effectiveness of the PMO in achieving objectives.
Education and Experience
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field; AND
Six (6) years of professional level project management experience in the administration and management of complex IT projects by leading, facilitating and coordinating project activities in an enterprise project portfolio which includes one (1) year of experience supervising staff. OR
Ten (10) years of professional level project management experience in the administration and management of complex IT projects by leading, facilitating and coordinating project activities in an enterprise project portfolio which includes one (1) year of supervising staff.
