The salary listed above is based on a 40-hour work week. This part-time internship is scheduled to work approximately 30 hours a week, and the salary will be $14.75 per hour. The internship will run from June 15-August 14, 2020.

The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombudsmen to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses.

LEAP (Learn-Experience-Accomplish-Progress) is the DCBS internship program that was

launched the summer of 2017. The program is designed to provide participants with an idea of

what a career with DCBS looks like, and the tools to successfully compete for future recruitments. Interns will work alongside existing staff on projects in addition to spending time in the classroom with their fellow interns. All interns will work on a final project presentation with the help of an assigned supervisor in one of our divisions.

This intern position is with the Division of Financial Regulation (DFR). DFR’s mission supports that of the department by protecting Oregonians’ access to fair products and services through education, regulation, and consumer assistance. The division is responsible for ensuring the safety and soundness of financial institutions, the availability and affordability of financial products, and the fair treatment of consumers. Functions include licensing, regulating, and monitoring the conduct of banks, credit unions, financial services providers, health care service contractors, insurance companies, and licensed or registered agents of such entities.

What you will do:
As an Drug Price Transparency Team Intern, you will develop materials and resources that the team can be used as part of their outreach efforts to Oregonians about reporting prescription drug prices. This will include contacting external stakeholders to discuss their needs and internal staff to coordinate efforts for potential solutions as well as utilizing program and division data to create visual communications.

What you will learn:
During this internship you will learn how to put your creativity and design skills to use at a large organization and how to work with a team of professionals to communicate messaging to the public. In addition, you will learn how to work with external stakeholders on multiple design jobs including the creation of: fliers, publications, posters, videos, and infographics for different audiences using advanced Adobe Creative Cloud skills.

What you need to qualify:
Minimum Qualifications:

Be enrolled in college at least half time at the time of application;

Be at least 18 years of age by the time the program starts on June 15, 2020.
Requested Skills:

General computer skills
Beginning to intermediate skills with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud or other design program
Interpersonal communication skills
Professional business writing skills and business etiquette
