Stoel Rives is searching for an entry level Financial Specialist to support the Finance Division. This position will reside in the Portland office, and will be responsible for performing financial and billing reports, responding regularly to inquiries regarding billing rates, cash receipts, and other general financial information. This person will also directly support the Financial Analysts and Director of Finance in preparing the annual budget, and support the Director of Accounting during regular audits. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Financial Reporting Preparation and Review
Generates and distributes month-end financial reports and billing reports off of the billing system on a monthly basis. Assists in responding to requests for billing information, billing rates, cash receipts support, and special reports. Reviews the accuracy of the reports prepared by the Financial Analysts.

2. Firm Financial Budget
Maintain Access database with current timekeeper information used to prepare the Firm annual revenue budget.

3. Review Timekeeper Compensation Reporting
Review annual timekeeper compensation reporting as well as partner admission compensation reports.

4. Reporting Improvements
Identify and implement reporting improvements by automating reports.

5. Audit
Assist with the annual audit reporting prepared for the Firm auditors.

6. Ad-hoc Reports
Prepare ad-hoc reports for the Finance Department. May be responsible for reconciliation of various general ledger accounts, maintenance of monthly financial summary spreadsheets, and preparation of spreadsheets upon requests.

Other duties as assigned.


ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES

Must be able to maintain confidentiality, encounter rapid changes, work at a fast pace, work on a variety of projects, and work with detailed information.

Technical Knowledge
Proficient use of Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Access. Experience with automated accounting systems, Business Objects and SQL is preferred. Must have demonstrated computer aptitude.

Physical/Mental Capabilities
Must be able to read and comprehend handwritten and typed notes or instructions, proofread typed documents and numerical documents, type on a keyboard and 10-key and use office equipment, sit for extended periods of time during a 7.5-hour workday, carry light files a short distance, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with 1-3 year’s work experience in a finance department preferred.

NORMAL WORK HOURS
This position is nonexempt and eligible for overtime compensation. Regular office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, but may vary depending upon the needs of the department.
