The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombudsmen to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses.

This position is with the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division (Oregon OSHA). Oregon OSHA is responsible for assuring safe and healthful working conditions for Oregon workers through promulgation and enforcement of Occupational Safety and Health Regulations, and by providing education and consultation to employees and employers.
This is a management service position and is not represented by a union.

Here's what you'll do...
The successful candidate will manage, plan, and coordinate the activities of staff; work with employers, employer associations, and employees to promote voluntary methods of providing safe and healthful workplaces and market other division services; and oversee the adoption process of federal and state-initiated rules and regulations.

What you need to qualify...
Six years of experience in supervision, staff-technical, or professional-level work Two years of this experience must have included supervision and management of a program, section, or unit which included:
a) development of program rules and policies,
b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans,
c) program evaluation, and
d) budget preparation;

OR

Six years of experience in supervision, staff-technical, or professional-level work. Two years of this experience must have included program/project leader responsibility involving one or more of the following areas:
a) development of program rules and policies,
b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans,
c) program evaluation and/or project evaluation, or
d) monitoring and controlling or preparing a budget.
NOTE: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent course work (144 quarter or 96 semester hours) in a field related to management, such as Business or Public Administration, or a field related to the program of the employing agency, may be substituted for three years of the required experience, but will not substitute for the two years of specialized experience.

Requested Skills:
• Knowledge and skill in current developments, principles, and practices of occupational safety related to recognition and control or elimination of hazards in the workplace
• Working knowledge of personnel management policies and procedures
• Outstanding professional communication skills, including verbal and written skills
• Highly organized and demonstrated exceptional attention to detail
• Strong leadership skills

Preference may given to those who can fluently read, write and speak Spanish.
