At the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, employees have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and supportive team of mission focused individuals tasked with maintaining, restoring, and enhancing the quality of Oregon’s air, land, and water.

The Central Services Division (CSD) assists the department in achieving its mission by providing central management services for the agency in accounting, budgeting, information systems, human resources, health and safety, training, policy and organizational development, purchasing, and facilities management. The division serves headquarters and 3 regional divisions, the Vehicle Inspection Program, and the Laboratory and Environmental Assessment Division. Services are provided for over 700 positions, various local and regional governments, and directly to citizens.

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) currently has an opening for a Budget, Payroll, and Procurement Manager (Principal Executive/Manager E) in Portland, Oregon.

The Financial Services section of DEQ provides central accounting, procurement, travel, payroll, budget, and other financial services in an accounting/budgeting environment that is much more complex than typically found in an organization of DEQ’s size. DEQ has six separate legislative budgets with over 50 operating sub-program areas and over 100 funding sources and associated cash accounts. DEQ also must maintain over 10,000 projects to handle a range of federal reporting requirements, be able to recover costs for cleanup services, and properly manage stakeholder expectations. To handle this complexity, DEQ maintains systems separate from, but which provide information to, those provided by and maintained by the State of Oregon (PICS, ORBITS, and SFMA).

Please consider joining an innovative team, and work to advance our agency’s mission to protect and improve Oregon’s environmental quality.
