Environmental Communications & Outreach Intern

To be eligible for PGE’s Summer Internship program, you must be at least 18 years old as of June 1, 2020 and have met one of the following criteria:

A high school senior who has enrolled in a college or trade school
A current college or trade school student who is returning to college or a trade school in the fall of 2020 as a full-time student
A recent 2019 – 2020 college graduate

You must provide verification of your student status by submitting your college transcript (an unofficial one is acceptable) or letter of acceptance to a college or trade school with your online application. You will have the opportunity to upload your documents during the online application process.

As the Environmental Communications & Outreach intern, you’ll have an opportunity to provide support to PGE’s Environmental Services team in developing communication materials for diverse audiences, monitoring and providing content for social media channels, assisting with outreach events, and helping develop a positive community of environmental stakeholders within the company and beyond.

Your journey includes:

• Creating and publishing content for the environmental team’s social media channel and monthly e-newsletters; accompany staff to document and photograph/film field work.
• Developing, designing, and writing communications (short articles, flyers, etc.). As such, you will also update webpages and other outreach materials to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Supporting the team during outreach events and discussing PGE environmental programs with public stakeholders.
• Perform administrative, coordination or technical tasks, such as completing spreadsheets in support of department assigned.
• Monitoring PGE news, relevant social media discussion and other online content; identify communication gaps.
• Perform research and analysis under general supervision. May gather qualitative or quantitative data and develop reports or spreadsheets.

The successful candidate will be actively enrolled undergraduate student (recent graduate or GED accepted) in good standing and pursuing a bachelor’s degree, preferably in a field related to the internship; GPA of 2.5 or higher preferred. Some prior volunteer or work experience preferred. Valid driver’s license with evidence of safe driving habits is required as daily travel within service territory is required for the position. Occasional overnight stay in other PGE locations may be required.
