General Summary:
As a member of the Human Resources team, the Benefits Specialist supports Human Resources practices and objectives, both strategic and tactical, with a focus on benefit and wellness plan designs to drive a culture emphasizing our company core values and the ongoing development of a workforce. This role will administer all benefits and retirement programs, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, basic and voluntary life insurance, short- and long-term disability, FSA, and 401(k) plan. Reports directly to the Human Resources Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversees and administers the benefits program including: Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance, 401(k) plan, Flexible Spending Accounts, Long and Short Term Disability, Supplemental Life Insurance, Accident and Critical Illness Insurance, Employee Assistance Program, and COBRA.
Processes all new enrollments, terminations, and changes in regards to the benefits plan.
Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
Acts as the point of contact between employees, benefit brokers, and carriers in any benefit related inquiry.
Assists with new-hire orientations.
Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
Responsible for administering leaves of absences and partners with leaders when needed for follow up. Maintains all legal documentation and ensures all decisions are formed based on Federal, State and local laws and following the law for FMLA, ADA, HIPPA, etc.
Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
Enrolls employees with carriers and process life status changes.
Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
Resolves any issues or concerns related to employee benefits by researching complex participant questions and plan issues by partnering with payroll, our Carriers and Broker.
Assists with the open enrollment process.
Reconciles employee premium payments and coordinates with Finance
Responsible for ACA updates in the HRIS and monthly report auditing and year end 1095c
Analyzes the current benefit plan by evaluating the use, services, cost, plan experience and competitive trends in benefits to improve our plan.
Conducts audits of benefit related payroll deductions for accuracy.
Updates employee communication material for wellness initiatives and the benefit plans.
Develops processes related to benefit program administration and transactions, required disclosures, and all compliance activities as it relates to benefit administration.
Works collaboratively with managers and employees in administration of the EAP (employee assistance program).
Researches, proposes and implements health and wellness initiatives, including mental and physical health, weight loss, nutrition and smoking cessation programs with the intention of
increasing the health and wellness of our workforce.
Provide analysis and reports pertinent to benefits administration, makes plan and program design
Document and maintain processes and procedures as it relates to benefits
Assist with various ad-hoc reporting and analytics
Administers the Wellness Program
Other duties as assigned

Experience and Qualifications:
Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
Ability to work with various departments and foster teamwork
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with attention to detail
Familiar with office procedure methods and equipment
Knowledge of basic mathematical principles
Knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, state, and local laws pertaining to benefits administration, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, and SECTION 125.
Exercise sound judgment and maintain a high level of confidentiality while maintaining critical and sensitive information, records, and reports
Strong presentation and communication skills required
Ability to work with creative, professional people at all levels of the company, in a fast-paced and
high growth environment.
Understand, interpret, and apply general administrative and benefit policies and procedures
Work under steady pressure with frequent interruptions
Ability to review and analyze policy and procedures
Use sound judgment in following and applying appropriate laws, regulations, policies, and procedures

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Travel Requirements:
Traveling between locations is required
Must have current Driver’s License and proof of Auto Insurance

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience
Minimum 3 years working with benefit administration in Human Resources
Proficient skills in MS Office Suite
Minimum 1 year customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications:
Professional of Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist Program (CEBS)
Experience with various technology (Google suite products, databases, applicant tracking systems, HRIS programs, payroll, etc.)
