provides students from Portland and Central Oregon with long-term mentoring that nurtures creativity
beginning in sixth grade and continuing into young adulthood. Our Artists in Residence Program awards

Position Title: Temporary Development and Communications Coordinator
Supervisor: Development and Communications Associate
Schedule: 20 hours/week, 2.5 days/week schedule to be determined within regular office hours Monday -
Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm.
Location: Caldera Portland office, 1227 NW Davis St, Portland, OR 97209
Compensation: $23.13 - $24.82 per hour DOE, non-exempt.

Position Description:
The Temporary Development & Communications Coordinator supports the daily operations of the
Development and Communications department. This position works closely with the Development and
Events Manager and the Development & Communications Associate to maintain the donor database,
provide event support, and process daily communications needs. The anticipated start date for this
position is September 25 - October 9.

Specific Responsibilities
Fundraising Data & Gift Management - 40%
● Work with Raiser's Edge donor database and gift processing system
● Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor and gift records and assist with periodic reconciliations
with accounting department
● Process EFT and credit card donations
● Produce donor communications such as gift receipts, acknowledgements, and pledge reminders
● Produce customized mailing lists, email lists, and reports for department use
● Maintain existing systems for data cleansing, data entry, gift processing, prospect research, and
relationship management

Fundraising Event Support - 30%
● Work with Greater Giving software
● Track event attendance and create donor follow-up lists for thank you calls and emails
● Attend fundraising events (October 5 and November 6) and provide event support

Communications Support - 20%
● Assist with creation of communications and marketing pieces including email newsletters, social
media content, annual reports, and other print and digital communications
● Assist with mailings for fundraising, donor stewardship, and cultivation
● Prepare materials for proposals, site visits, and meetings with funders as needed

General Administrative Support for Development and Communication - 10%
● Participate in yearly audit, as needed
● Provide overall administrative support to Development & Communications Associate,
Development & Events Manager, and Executive Director
● Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
● Overall understanding of nonprofit fundraising processes
● Passion for Caldera's mission, social and environmental change, and racial equity
● Ability to communicate effectively, written and oral
● Experience and ability to work in a multicultural environment
● Ability to pass background and driving check. Caldera considers systemic injustices when
investigating findings.

Preferred Qualifications
● 1 year experience in nonprofit administrative or fundraising role with similar responsibilities
● Experience processing donations and maintaining donor confidentiality
● Experience using Raiser's Edge, Greater Giving, or similar database systems
● Experience using Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office
● Experience using Mailchimp and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)

Position Details:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger,
handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand. The noise level in the work environment is
usually moderate.
