The City of Milwaukie is seeking an assistant planner to help support the City’s current planning activities. Primary responsibilities include staffing the city’s development services counter, including intake and processing of certain land use applications. This position will play a primary role in fielding general inquiries related to the zoning code as well as reviewing building permits for zoning compliance. This position will also be primarily responsible for preparation of land use notices and notices of decisions and will provide support for the Planning Commission, including the preparation of meeting agendas and minutes in consultation with the Planning Manager and staff. This position will also have opportunities to engage on long range planning projects and assist as needed on complex current planning projects.

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in urban or regional planning, public administration, or a closely related field is required.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Fluent in Spanish desirable.

Work Experience:
• Requires at least one year employing technical skills such as codes processing, project work, public assistance, Comprehensive Plan updating, report preparation and presentation, graphics or cartographics, or CAD or GIS.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
