The role:
Join our team in ODOT’s Region 1 as a senior construction coordinator! You will play a key role in assisting the resident engineer with the leadership and training of a construction office crew. You will also collaborate with contractors and ensure compliance in the execution and documentation of complex construction projects.

A day in the life:
-Coordinate the daily work of the crew’s inspectors, surveyors and other office staff.
-Review contract work for compliance with plans and specifications. Accept or reject contract work and suspend work for non-specification work or materials.
-Develop estimates and justification for change orders. Negotiate agreed prices with contractor. Engineer solutions to fit field conditions.
-Interview candidates and recommend hiring. Monitor and schedule training for crew. -Provide employee performance feedback to supervisor.
-Develop engineering and annual crew budgets. Monitor engineering expenses.
-Establish and maintain responsible and positive relations with contractors and their representatives.
-Participate in project development activities prior to contracts being awarded.
-May work long hours, flexible hours and may be on call 24/7, including holidays.
-May traverse terrain that is rough, icy, heavily vegetated, sloping, etc. Will lift at least 50 pounds of equipment.

What we need:
-A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying or Transportation-related Engineering and four years of civil or transportation-related engineering or surveying experience; OR
-Seven years of civil or transportation-related engineering or surveying experience. Two years of this experience must have been independently planning and completing assignments in drafting, field or laboratory inspection, construction contract administration, surveying, materials testing, or traffic investigations; OR
-An equivalent combination of education and experience.

-Additionally, driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
