The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality currently has a full-time opportunity for a Systems Administrator (information Systems Specialist 5). This position will be located in Portland, Oregon.

The mission of the Department of Environmental Quality is to be a leader in restoring, maintaining, and enhancing the quality of Oregon’s air, water, and land. The Information Technology (IT) section supports the Agency by planning, developing, implementing, and providing technical support for the DEQ’s computer systems, such as hardware, operating systems, networking, e-mail, databases, and other core systems. The IT section does planning, acquisition, and maintenance for the department-wide computer network, including setting hardware and software standards. The section makes policy recommendations related to computer systems and their usage.

What you will do!

The Systems Administrator coordinates and provides research, design, development, implementation, and operational support of Agency wide desktop and server computer facilities. These support activities facilitate the successful and reliable operation of systems which support agency wide programs for the management of the Department of Environmental Quality.

This is a full-time, AFSCME represented position.

What are we looking for?

4 years of information systems experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field may substitute for the years of experience requirement).
Experience developing and deploying Windows desktop and server system imaging and build configurations.
Experiencing managing desktop and server security patching software, Anti-virus applications, and reporting tools.
Experience deploying and managing remote desktop support solutions.
Experience managing enterprise level network switching and infrastructure configurations.
Experience managing Hyper-V environments.
Information systems experience in communications, software, hardware, and data.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Windows Server Administration.
Experience providing technical consultation and advice to managers, technical and professional IT staff, and system users.
Experience analyzing and diagnosing user problems, and implementing solutions.
