Maintain and oversee correct handling of patient insurance coverage and eligibility by front desk, referrals, and OHP application support staff; includes knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial insurance, MVA insurance, county and state programs such as CCARE and ScreenWise.
Administer provider portals for employee use to verify eligibility, check claim status or print remittance advices.
Identify issues in EHR billing module build and/or billing/EHR workflows, and enter help desk tickets; use EHR testing environments to participate in resolving issues.
Participate in workflow design with clinicians and front desk so that billing/fiscal best practices/policies are reflected by clinic/front desk actions.
Analyze existing practices by facilitating communication and cooperation between medical billing, fiscal, clinicians, front desk, pharmacy, IT, QA, and EHR staff/partners.
Work with medical, mental health, and other staff to insure accurate charting for billing.
Manage confidential billing practices and workflow for sensitive billing situations.
Review, manage, and process billing workqueues for those not completed by the billing service.
Work collaboratively with billing service to ensure insurance payments are batched correctly and timely.
Submit paper and electronic claims, manage insurance pre-authorization, research denials, and post payments not completed by the billing service.
Work closely with Fiscal Department to ensure accurate payment records.
Provide patient support with insurance or account questions.
Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.

Billing experience, including Medicare and Medicaid, Mental Health, Alcohol & Drug, and FQHC billing experience preferred.
Experience with insurance credentialing and the Oregon Provider Credentialing Application.
Familiarity with electronic medical records, experience with OCHIN/EPIC and Credible a plus.
Experience with chart reviews and coding.
Capable of working independently and collaboratively.
Well-organized and detail-oriented.
Good communication skills.
