Project UNICA is a program within El Programa Hispano Catolico that provides prevention and intervention services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The goal of the program is to provide support, advocacy, and opportunity for self-empowerment that enables survivors to exercise free and informed life choices. Project UNICA operates the UNICA Crisis Line, which is the first and only 24-hour DV/SA Crisis Line in Spanish in Multnomah County and the state of Oregon.

El Programa Hispano Catolico Proyecto UNICA's On-Call Crisis Line Specialist answers our domestic violence and sexual assault crisis line on nights, weekends and holidays.


Provide crisis intervention, assessment, information, safety planning, and referrals on 24-hour Spanish domestic and sexual violence hotline.
Conduct assessment and provide crisis support services to UNICA participants.
Assist UNICA callers to develop a safety plan, assist with motel and shelter coordination as well as food and transportation vouchers and escape violence.
Submit crisis line summary and call logs in timely manner to meet required deadlines.
Meet with Program Manager on regular basis (by phone or in person).
Maintain and build rapport between standing community partnerships.
Provide assistance with coordinating motel, food and transportation vouchers.
Other duties as assigned.


Must be bilingual (Spanish/English) and bi-culturally competent.
Ability to communicate concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing in Spanish and English.
High School Diploma / GED or equivalent experience required.
Experience and knowledge working with a broad range of issues affecting Latinos/Communities of Color in the community especially issues related to surviving domestic/sexual violence.
Minimum 1 year experience deescalating crisis situations.
Knowledge of community resources to connect with appropriate resources.
Basic to Intermediate proficiency in all programs of Microsoft Office.
Demonstrate judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential matters.
Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner. High attention to detail required.
Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
Required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Ability to support organizational and program specific mission and goals.
Ability to lift 40 pounds.
40 hr. Domestic Violence / Sexual Assault training.
Driver's license preferred ability to obtain automobile insurance at levels required by agency (100/300/100). Occasional driving in the Tri-County area required.
Satisfactory results from civil, criminal and motor vehicle background check required.

COMPENSATION: Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience.
