Portland Community College is seeking a Director for the new OMIC Training Center in Scappoose, Oregon. The Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center (OMIC) is a collaborative environment bringing together industry, higher education and government in partnership to develop new tools, techniques, and technologies to address near-term manufacturing challenges through applied research and advanced technical training. PCC is leading the Center, which combines on-the-job training with classroom and lab instruction in an apprenticeship type model. Students can complete different educational pathways that lead to employment and/or career advancement opportunities through OMIC training.

The OMIC Training Director position provides an exciting opportunity for a strategic, collaborative and visionary leader to guide the successful development of this critical program in support of the College, the OMIC collaborative, the region and the state.

The Director must bring a strong record of project and program management successes, and a commitment to championing the need for dedicated manufacturing training that leads to living-wage jobs. It will be critical for the Director to build and grow impactful new training programs, setting and following through on jointly-developed goals.

The Center is a highly visible, highly anticipated endeavor, which will require on-going community building and stakeholder management with many private and public partners; from the Oregon Governor's office and legislators, to educators, to OMIC industry partners, to the community partners and manufacturers. The ability to comprehend the unique needs of each group, and to effectively communicate expectations and partnership with each will be essential to support the success of the OMIC Training Center's mission. There is potential for further growth of both the OMIC Training initiative and the OMIC Training Director role, as this collaborative initiative develops further.

Candidate Profile

These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.

Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications.

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and intercultural skills with the demonstrated ability to communicate and work cooperatively with individuals and organizations on all levels and with all backgrounds including diverse academic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of students, faculty, staff, leadership and OMIC partners.
• Extensive experience and success building community and managing the interests, priorities, expectations, and communication needs of a wide and diverse array of key stakeholders.
• Demonstrated leadership, project management, and capitol project experience in a multi-organizational, collaborative project servicing diverse stakeholders (preferably in an educational setting).
• Demonstrated success developing and/or implementing innovative approaches and pedagogy for educational pathways that integrate work based learning opportunities such as internships, apprenticeships, on-the-job training, etc.
• Demonstrated success leading initiatives or programs serving students, or clients, from diverse racial, cultural, socio-economic, gender, age, and education backgrounds.
• Demonstrated success generating revenue or funding for a complex initiative including grants, sponsorships, etc.
• Demonstrated experience working in or supporting programs in the manufacturing industry or a related sector; knowledge, familiarity with manufacturing industry or related sector; knowledge, familiarity with higher education, career technical education and/or K-12 education.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Education, Counseling, Psychology, Marketing, Communication or related field.

Six years of progressively responsible management experience in an academic department, business, industry or post-secondary institution.
Preferred Qualifications
Salary:

Minimum $81,298 to range mid-point of $99,591. Placement generally will not exceed the mid-point, based on qualifications, experience and internal equity.

PCC Benefits:

PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age, as well as partial tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)

- 14.67 hours of vacation leave per month

- 1 day of sick leave per month

- 11 holidays

- 3 additional personal leave days per year
