The Operations and Maintenance Division is currently recruiting for Light Equipment Operators to assist with keeping Washington County's roads and bridges safe and functioning. Individuals in this role will pave, patch and grade roads; cut back vegetation; repair bridges; install and repair pavement markings and traffic signs; and keep the water moving through culverts and ditches.
Incumbents in this position will perform semi-skilled manual labor and minor maintenance of light equipment as well as have the opportunity to operate a variety of automotive and motorized equipment used in road construction and maintenance. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors in all types of weather and has previous experience working in a fast-paced, team environment.
This recruitment will be used to potentially fill vacancies that will open during the next six months.
Education and Experience:
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
A high school diploma or equivalent; AND
Two (2) years of work experience in maintenance and road construction, to include one (1) year of commercial truck driving or equipment operating experience in maintenance or road construction.
