Learning and Development Specialist

About this role…
As NWEA's Learning and Development Specialist, you will collaborate with various subject matter experts to design and develop complex online learning solutions, addressing anticipated business needs, respond to evolving and static requirements, and support the Learning & Design (L&D) team to provide high quality training for NWEA staff. You will be responsible for partnering with internal content experts and other internal stakeholders to develop an interactive and engaging learning experience for NWEA staff. This position reports to the Director, Learning and Development. Candidates may work in our Portland, Oregon headquarters or be a remote worker located anywhere in the U.S.

Your next challenge…
• Develop interactive and engaging online training using multimedia and authoring tools to address anticipated business needs
• Design and implement research and analysis techniques to assess training effectiveness and continuously improve quality
• Determine delivery technology needed to support overall learning strategy
• For assigned projects and sustaining work, ensure timely communication of updates, monitor and manage work flow, and communicate potential and current problems with stakeholders and/or manager on a regular basis
• Revise, update, and maintain online training materials
• Work with assigned content experts to understand training requirements, ensure content is effective, and obtain training material sign-off
• Contribute to instructional design and development standards
• Perform quality checks to ensure consistency and quality of materials
• Collaborate with team members to refine processes and workflow design
• Manage LMS functions, which include monitoring course content, course approvals, and evaluation processes, ensuring processes are completed within given time frames

• Ability to produce thorough and complete documentation
• Demonstrated skill in conducting effective needs analysis, course development, and evaluation
• Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design tools
• Knowledge of and ability to apply learning and development standards, adult learning principles, and recognized “best practices” such as guidelines and specifications of the ADDIE design model
• Experience with learning management systems
• Ability to develop detailed storyboards, scripts, animation, and/or video to support instructional design
• Experience in creating and facilitating distance-based learning

Education and experience
• CPLP or advanced e-learning certificate strongly preferred
• Three to five years' instructional design experience required
• Three to five years' experience in the development of e-learningusing Articulate 360
