The Port of Portland Design Engineering group provides civil project engineering design services for the Port's Capital, Operating and Asset Management programs. These design services support the different Port programs through the design and production of contractually sound and biddable construction contract documents. The Civil Project Engineer with help lead the design team efforts by providing technical leadership of our in house and consultant resources. This Engineer will have a role and take part in various Port projects including PDXNext, which includes more than 20 projects with the largest project ever at the Port being the Terminal Core Redevelopment. This program is designed to expand, upgrade, and modernize facilities at PDX to improve the passenger experience, add technology, improve airline efficiencies, minimize our environmental impact while adding resiliency and redundancy. The Civil
Project Engineer position is and exciting opportunity to provide leadership in support of these and many other projects.

Provide technical team leadership for engineering projects, including coordination and management of external consultant resources

Apply fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of engineering to produce contractually sound and biddable project documents including designs, drawings, and specifications, while working within established cost, quality, and time parameters

Provide engineering design and technical direction for projects with moderate scope and degree of complexity

Apply engineering skills to develop, analyze, evaluate, and set criteria for solutions to project-related issues

Apply professional judgment and experience to understand the broader, business context for projects and the associated implications for those engineering decisions made

Provide technical information to peer engineers, project team members, and/or engineering management to provide updates and/or influence decisions on technical issues

Prepare technical evaluations for projects

Prepare cost estimates and time schedules

Provide technical support to Port operating facilities

BS degree in civil engineering or related field

4 years progressively more responsible experience in an engineering capacity; or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience

Professional Engineering license (required)

Experience with negotiation and consensus building for problem resolution

Familiar with project management and project delivery process

Knowledge of policies and permitting requirements relating to building codes, storm water discharge and quality

Experience with interactive CAD design skills; personal computer experience using Microsoft and other software applications

Ability to obtain valid Oregon or Washington driver's license

Ability to obtain security badging at PDX and/or other Port facilities, which may require a criminal background check
