POSITION SUMMARY:
This internship may be appealing to someone interested in learning more about Construction or Project Management or making a career shift into either of these fields. The Construction Project Management Office Intern will be provided with opportunities to be introduced and gain experience of what it would be like to be a project manager at Metro working on public improvement projects.

The intern will collaborate with project managers by providing support to the project management staff in their everyday roles. Some of this work could include; balancing the needs of various internal and external stakeholders, managing the scope, schedule and budget of projects large and small, to help ensure Metro projects are designed and implemented to maximize value for the investment of public resources. Some of the expected educational outcomes; developing and using project management skills and learning formal project management skills, which is notable for any future success in a professional workplace.

This intern will be a part of the Asset Management and Capital Planning Department. On a daily basis, the work performed by this position will be overseen by Construction Project Management staff and will be managed by the Construction Project Management Office Program Director.

Duration: End of October 2019 – September 30, 2020
Schedule commitment: Flexible, Monday – Friday, 10 – 20 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Interest and/or experience in a design, construction or project management career
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license

Additional experience, knowledge and skills that would make you successful in this internship
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to stay on task and ask for assistance when needed
• Ability to follow safe-work practices, safely navigate a construction site
• Leadership skills
• Flexibility to take on range of assignments
• Ability to organize multiple details
