Supportive Housing Program Resident Assistant
Housing Transitions Program
Part-time 8 hrs/week; Non-Exempt
Reports to: Housing Transitions Program Manager
Catholic Charities is a nonprofit social services and low income housing provider organization dedicated to providing social services and assistance to meet clients' physical, social, spiritual and psychological needs while helping to develop opportunities for self-help. The Shared Housing Program Resident Assistant lives on site and provides support as needed to the residents.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lives on site, monitoring safety and security of residents as needed.
Maintains communication with Housing Transitions Program Manager and Case Managers on an "as needed" basis. Notifies Program Manager in emergency or urgent situations.
Ensures that house agreements and program rules are enforced. Reports and manages lease violations, working with Property Management.
Manages house budget. Uses house budget to purchase and prepare a weekly house dinner.
Coordinates and records donations to the house.
Conducts and participates in twice-monthly house meeting; assists residents in mediating their own disputes, selecting new residents when an opening occurs, and assuring fidelity to self-governance model.
Notifies property management of needed house repairs. Assists residents in addressing minor repairs not requiring property management (hanging pictures, replacing high up light bulbs, etc.)
Acts as community liaison between residents and interested volunteers or volunteer groups.
Occasional (5-6 times annually) speaking to church or other community groups.
Participate in trainings and coordination meetings as requested by Program Manager.
Adherence to Catholic Charities policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by Catholic Charities supervisor.
Experience providing case management, information and referrals and advocacy.
Knowledge of the needs and issues of people who are formerly homeless including elderly, persons with disabilities, pregnant and parenting women, etc.
Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and Assertive Engagement
Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Commitment to diversity and equity
Experience with community networking and organizing.
Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word programs.
Demonstrate judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential matters.
Commitment to Catholic Charities mission to work in partnership with vulnerable populations to achieve lasting solutions to poverty and injustice.
Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner. High attention to detail required.
Basic to intermediate written and oral communication skills.
Willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities.
Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills.
Ability to work well in team setting, as well as independently; be flexible and adapt well to different dynamics in a fast paced work environment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, which could include some evenings and weekends.
Ability to support organizational and program specific mission and goals.
Ability to lift 40 pounds.
Satisfactory results from criminal, civil and/or motor vehicle background check required
COMPENSATION: Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. The use of a one bedroom, fully furnished room home is included as part of this position for a reduced rent of $250 per month.
