The Resource Development (RD) department advances the organization’s strategic goals and supports our worldwide team by raising flexible funds, profile and influence. The team is several dozen dynamic professionals who possess a wide range of skills. We are gift officers, direct response fundraisers, web developers, marketers and media relations strategists. Create brand aligned visual communication and content promoting Mercy Corps’ programs, participants and work across the globe.
Visually communicate complex concepts and messages in a way that is authentic, engaging and accessible to a wide range of audiences.
Partner with colleagues to develop creative concepts that reinforce Mercy Corps’ values, mission and platform.
visual design is cohesive and consistent across mediums including day-to-day content, campaigns and new materials
strategy, technical constraints and audience objectives are considered in design solutions and recommendations
diverse perspectives and points-of-view inform design solutions and decisions
presentation of concepts and design work are comprehensive, complete and professional
quality assurance of final deliverables: Final project files are error-free, to spec and well-communicated to vendors and partners

You are driven to develop and produce engaging work—using design to bring visual directions to life in unique and novel ways. You naturally experiment with new formats, investigate ideas and embrace strategy, while championing the craft of project production. You are passionate about Mercy Corps’ mission and will use the elements of design and the power of brand to convey a sense of urgency and purpose about the global issues central to the work of our program teams.
YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in design or a related field
3+ years' relative design experience
Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Sketch
Strong command and understanding of design fundamentals (typography, composition, balance, art direction, pacing, narrative) and demonstrated ability to maintain a high standard for quality of output
Familiarity partnering with writers, editors and videographers to develop projects
Experience connecting creative and business rationale—both written and via presentation—to colleagues and stakeholders
Working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, PowerPoint)
Strong time management skills and attention to detail
Bonus for experience in After Effects, Premier and Canva
Solid written and verbal communication skills, along with a high degree of emotional intelligence
