As Metro's Emergency Planning Manager – Solid Waste, you will develop and oversee the implementation and management of a comprehensive preparedness program, with the goal of maintaining a resilient solid waste system by planning and preparing for emergency response, debris management and continuity of operations to ensure that waste collection, transfer, transport and disposal services continue to function during and after a disruptive event.
The ideal candidate will have experience developing and implementing emergency planning, response and recovery programs across a large city or region. This candidate also should have experience developing effective teams and collaborating with multiple partners (local, state and federal jurisdictions; utility and service providers; and others). Familiarity with the region's solid waste system would be ideal, but is not required.
Eliminating racial inequities within our regional solid waste operations is a priority for Metro, so it's essential that the Emergency Planning Manager – Solid Waste has a strong understanding of racial equity issues, and a passion for and proven track record of addressing and mitigating those inequities.
