The Portland Bureau of Transportation is seeking an Operations Assistant Manager to join the Portland Streetcar Operations team. Reporting to the Streetcar Operations Manager, this position will supervise both City staff and provide direction to TriMet contract employees, primarily on swing shift. This position will work in coordination with the Streetcar Safety Officer as well as the Maintenance Manager and supervisors in a small transit agency environment.
Responsibilities will include:
•Directing and supervising the work of the assigned TriMet superintendents and streetcar operators from the right of way locations. This position may need to dispatch or operate the streetcar when circumstances so dictate.
•Providing leadership and working with staff to develop and retain highly competent customer service oriented staff
•Facilitating vehicle movement by assisting operators and superintendents in vehicle inspection and route selection
•Assisting in the documentation of accidents and other service disruptions
•Carrying out the City's safety program for the unit; and responding to day, evening or weekend operational problems or emergencies as required.

•Safety - Evening back-up for Safety and Risk Officer
•Collision and Incident response
•Prepare reports to meet local, state and federal requirements
•Could be lead worker, under the direction of Operations Manager, for security program and planning, including updating the System Emergency Preparedness Plan
