Receivables and Accounting Specialist

Finance Department

Full-Time 40 hours/week; Non-exempt

Reports to: Controller


We are seeking an energetic Receivables and Accounting Specialist in our Finance Department. This position will be processing donations and grant revenue in both Salesforce and general ledger software. The duties will require a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.


Manage and record accurate gift processing and process donations.
Ensure accurate data entry in Salesforce for contributions.
Reconcile Salesforce records to general ledger.
Create and run database reports, as needed.
Assist with billing and Accounts Receivable processes in the Finance Department for contracts and grants.
Prepare journal entries and reconcile accounts to support monthly close processes.
Participate in trainings and coordination meetings as requested by Supervisor.
Adherence to Catholic Charities policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.


Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field or equivalent experience required.
Minimum 3 years' experience in accounting, finance or related field.
Strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency (intermediate to advanced) in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software (SAGE/Intacct preferred); 10-key by touch.
Knowledge and understanding of 501(c)(3) non-profit organization accounting requirements.
Salesforce database experience required.
Demonstrate judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential matters.
Commitment to Catholic Charities mission to work in partnership with vulnerable populations to achieve lasting solutions to poverty and injustice.
Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner. High attention to detail required.

Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills.
Ability to work well in team setting, as well as independently; be flexible and adapt well to different dynamics in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, which could include some evenings and weekends.
Ability to support organizational and program specific mission and goals.
Ability to lift 40 pounds.
Travel in Portland required. Must have driver's license, access to vehicle and ability to obtain automobile insurance at levels required by agency (100/300/100).
Satisfactory results from criminal, civil and/or motor vehicle background check required.
