JOB SUMMARY:
The Education Assistant monitors and provides successful transition of youth educational records from a program serving children. Collaborates with teachers to provide educational support and behavioral management in the classrooms. Position works in a classroom setting, within a residential facility.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
• Screens clients entering the program for education level history
• Coordinates with clients previous facilities/educational institutions to obtain education records, and transfers education records to new school upon exiting program
• Assists in group outings with the clients
• Works effectively with outside care representatives to ensure cooperative and supportive working relations and coordination of client services

Education and Work Experience:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

• High school diploma required.
• Bi-lingual in Spanish, written, read and verbal required
• One year experience working with youth with preference given to work in a classroom or educational setting.
• Experience with record keeping systems preferred

Other Requirements:
• Must be 21 years of age
• Must pass a DHS criminal history check.
• Must meet agency driving requirements

Starting Pay Rate:
Bilingual (Spanish) pay range: $16.65-17.03

About the Program:
Our shelter is well equipped to comfortably care and provide support for up to 50 youth at a time. Through our residential facility, the youth have access to education, and mental health services onsite. The program serves adolescent boys and girls, (11 – 17 years of age) The youth primarily arrive from Latin American countries, occasionally from other countries such as South East Asia, Eastern Europe and Africa.
