The School of Social Work at Portland State University seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor of Practice Field Specialist position who are enthusiastic, knowledgeable and committed to social work field education. The School of Social Work partners with many public and nonprofit organizations statewide in order to provide BSW and MSW students high quality field education experiences. Our School works with students throughout the State, including program locations in Southern, Central, Eugene and Salem as well through our online program option, to educate and train professional social workers.
The Field Specialist will collaborate with the statewide field team on the curricular development and delivery of the field seminar, serve as a field liaison providing professional and academic advising, consult to resolve conflicts, deliver orientations and trainings, provide service to the community and participate in all aspects of the field placement process. Candidates who demonstrate an interest in and ability to realize the mission, values, and vision of the School are strongly encouraged to apply. We seek applicants with professional experience in field education, teaching and/or training, and whose work has actively engaged in racial equity and social justice. This is a 12 month, full time, 1.0 FTE, non-tenure track, Assistant Professor of Practice faculty position. The position includes a combination of teaching and administrative responsibilities.
