Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS) is currently hiring for two (2) part-time Library Clerks. These positions are responsible for checking in, processing, and shelving library materials. Additional duties include answering patrons' questions and informing them of library policies, procedures, and available resources. The Library Clerk is also responsible for data entry, processing library cards, cleaning up data in the catalog, and accessing patron accounts.
The ideal candidates enjoy helping and working with people, and possesses excellent customer service skills. Incumbents in these roles are interested in working within a team, but motivated to be self-starters and go-getters. Individuals in these roles are friendly, fun and have positive attitudes. They are active and don't mind doing repetitive tasks. Candidates should be flexible and adaptable, and able to pivot to meet the needs of the day while managing on-going responsibilities. They are observant and strive for streamlining processes. Additionally, it is important the incumbents in these positions will take ownership and pride in their work, and aren't afraid to admit they have made a mistake or ask for help. Most importantly, they are committed to supporting the library's mission, goals, and values.
The current vacancies are non-benefited, part-time (20 hours per week).
Education and Experience:
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
A high school diploma or equivalent; AND
One (1) year of general clerical experience involving customer service.
Clerical library experience is preferred, but not required.
