The Bureau of Planning and Sustainability (BPS) is seeking a Business Services Program Lead. This individual will help build on existing green business efforts and take business services in new directions. The ideal candidate will be adept at leading with equity and managing for change. They will have experience building and maintaining trusting relationships with communities of color and responding to community needs. They can readily identify and articulate opportunities, define and champion a vision for change, and scale up new initiatives. The Business Services Program Lead will manage the Sustainability at Work program. This includes monitoring program performance, tracking budget, managing data, ensuring goals are met, reporting outcomes, analyzing challenges and managing partnerships. This individual will support businesses in implementing green solutions and championing climate action goals in their communities. They will also direct the work of other City staff providing this assistance. The ideal candidate will have experience engaging and supporting diverse businesses, and a desire to meet businesses in the community where they live and work. We anticipate changes to Sustainability at Work and existing green business efforts as a result of Metro's Regional 2030 Waste Plan and the City of Portland Climate Action Plan update. These plans aim to create equitable community benefits that dramatically reduce carbon emissions and conserve natural resources. The ideal candidate will come to this position with ideas and understanding that are not steeped in traditional or mainstream ideas on climate and environment.
The Business Services Program Lead will be expected to attend community meetings and functions outside of regular work hours, such as nights and weekends.
