A day in the life:

Under the supervision of the senior roadway manager, assist in implementing Region 1 Technical Center permit plans review, quality control, and Tort claims.
Provide technical engineering expertise in development reviews, project construction, planning studies and access permits. Review and critique engineering designs prepared by consultants and local agencies.
Perform development, agency and utility permit reviews, including rail crossings, public transit facilities and maintenance operations.
Review proposed improvements or developments and their impacts to the highway system.
Make informational presentations on projects. Testify in court hearings if litigation arises for projects. Respond to public records requests.
Train, plan, direct and review the work of other engineering professionals and technicians.
Organize the work for the Region 1 Technical Center permit plans review. This will involve making decisions on construction materials, compiling estimates of review hours, developing graphic information system (GIS) mapping of permit limits.
Perform quality control, audit quality control processes for all disciplines of the Technical Center.
Work primarily in an office environment, using computers and software to develop CADD drawings and documents.
Field visits may involve hazards such as rough terrain, adverse weather, traffic, and heavy construction/equipment.
May require travel and occasional overtime and night or weekend work.

What we need:

A valid Professional Engineer’s (PE) license in Civil, Structural, or transportation-related engineering.

NOTE: If registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain professional registration in the state of Oregon within six months of hire.

Additionally, driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
