The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) currently has a full-time opportunity for a North Coast Regional Solutions Coordinator (Operations and Policy Analyst 4) in Tillamook, Oregon. **This position is stationed in Tillamook, Oregon and will include significant travel throughout the three North Coast counties. Regular travel to Portland and other parts of the state is also expected. Evening and weekend work may be required for meetings, as well as occasional overnight travel.**

DEQ’s mission is to be a leader in restoring, maintaining, and enhancing the quality of Oregon’s air, land, and water. As a regulatory agency whose job is to protect the quality of Oregon’s environment, DEQ works with Oregonians for a healthy, sustainable environment. The North Coast Regional Solutions Coordinator works closely with the Northwest Region Division Administrator, members of the Northwest Region’s Management Team, and regional and statewide staff. The office is based out of the North Coast Regional Solutions Center at Tillamook Bay Community College in Tillamook, and works closely with businesses and local governments in Tillamook, Clatsop, and Columbia Counties.

The North Coast Regional Solutions Coordinator will represent DEQ on the North Coast Regional Solutions Team. Regional Solutions is an innovative, collaborative approach to community and economic development in Oregon. Recognizing the unique needs of each of Oregon’s 11 federally designated economic development districts, state agency representatives are co-located in Regional Solutions Centers throughout Oregon to align investments in support of regional priorities. Regional Solutions Teams work with communities to identify priorities, solve problems, and seize opportunities to complete projects, integrating state agency work and funding to ensure that the projects are completed in the most economical and streamlined process possible.

The North Coast Regional Solutions Coordinator supports Regional Solutions Team efforts statewide with other DEQ representatives; builds collaborative partnerships with other agencies, local governments, community organizations, and private sector businesses; and works within DEQ to promote the Regional Solutions approach in the Northwest Region.

This is a full-time, management service, non-supervisory position.

What are we looking for?

Bachelor’s degree in a business or public administration, behavioral or social sciences, economics, finance, political science, or a related degree, AND 5 years of professional-level evaluative, analytical, and planning work (an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and time management skills, with an ability to pay attention to detail and an ability to work under tight deadlines with shifting priorities.
Demonstrated political aptitude.
Experience resolving inter-agency, multi-jurisdictional, and local disagreements concerning community development needs and environmental issues.
Experience with public policy, including development, analysis, evaluation, and implementation.
Ability to interpret and implement environmental programs, and federal, state, and local regulations and guidance, and the ability to communicate complex technical information to lay people.
Experience developing partnerships and building relationships with communities and other partners.
Experience working collaboratively in teams and facilitating/coordinating diverse interests.
Ability to be resourceful, work independently, and take initiative.
