The Documentation Team at Jama Software is responsible for delivering excellent customer-facing documentation for our products as part of product operations. Our product is used by complex product development teams in high impact and highly regulated industries such as space, medical, and automotive.

The Documentation Team at Jama Software manages help system content (including the user guide and context sensitive help), defines style guides for application labels and messaging, and produces other customer-facing documentation such as release notes for Jama Software. They write, gather, and edit content that gives users a strong learning experience in our enterprise software—both on-screen, as people work with our product, and alongside the user experience, as people seek additional information to help them understand and use our product more effectively.

What you'll get to do:

Documentation & UX Writer is a meticulous generalist who is able to condense complex ideas into nuggets of clarity, with the flexibility to adapt content to different audiences, while maintaining compliance to a defined standard. To be successful in this role, you will:

Collaborate well with Agile development teams, Product Managers, and subject matter experts
Be confident in your responsibilities and trust others to do the same
Create clear, consistent, and accurate help documentation and release content using a “plain language” approach in a structured writing environment
Manage your work in relation to multiple teams who are using different release, sprint, and launch cycles
Appreciate the complexity of enterprise products and have experience with the challenges in helping people of varied skill levels understand and use them
Understand how to maintain and write in compliance with a language structure, controlled vocabulary, and language and style guide
Follow human-centered research methods, collect and maintain analytics to test, and improve the quality of your work

Education and Experience:

BA/BS or MA/MS in Communication, English, Information Science, HCI, or related discipline or equivalent years of experience
1+ years writing and organizing web-based help and product copy
Ideal Candidate: 

Exposure to using a content management system with profiling and workflow to manage technical content and subject-matter contributors
Experience in enterprise software development or requirements management is a plus
Exposure to structured writing (DocBook, DITA, etc)
Experience creating, manipulating, and integrating images and videos into documents
Understanding of UX principles is a plus
Writing samples to share that show your style and approach
Experience writing scripts to handle metadata or categorization of web-based context sensitive help
Experience with HTML, CSS or JavaScript
