The Division of University Outreach and Engagement at Oregon State University invites applications for a Regional Director. This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE, 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. The region assigned will be Central which will cover Crook, Deschutes, Gilliam, Hood River, Jefferson, Morrow, Sherman, Wasco and Wheeler counties, and the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. The office location will be in the Central Region. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Vice Provost for University Outreach and Engagement.
The Division of University Outreach and Engagement enhances access to enrichment and problem solving through reciprocal relationships for the exchange of knowledge and resources in partnership with individuals, communities, business, industries, government, and educational institutions.
The Division includes the following units: Extension Service, Extension & Experiment Stations Communications, OSU Open Campus, OSU Outdoor School, and Professional & Continuing Education. These units are aligned under the leadership of the Vice Provost for University Outreach and Engagement.
The Regional Director (RD) will identify and promote opportunities for residents within the Central Region to access the full complement of OSU resources to enhance economic stability and vitality and improve individual well-being.
The RD will be assigned counties in support of the goals and mission of the OSU Extension Service, and the Division of Outreach & Engagement with special attention given the O&E Strategic Plan. The person will be assigned one or more statewide responsibilities.
The RD provides leadership, vision, and administrative oversight for regional initiatives and programs. This person is responsible for facilitating the identification of and response to needs, and evaluation of program and services. The RD promotes partnerships and collaboration with internal and external partners; ensures program visibility at local and state level; supervises program faculty; manages budgets to meet established benchmarks; promotes the principles and practices of diversity, equity, and inclusion; reports on program accomplishments and ensures that program practices reflect best practices in education and comply with the Civil Rights regulations. The RD will also co-create a shared vision and establish a culture of commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The RD will provide leadership to the faculty and staff in the Central Region. The RD will work as a team member with local community stakeholders in the Central Region.
The RD will identify technologies and assist with developing strategies for implementing these technologies that support Extension operations and programming at all levels. This person will utilize technology to enhance communication, provide access to training, minimize travel, and maintain relationships.
Active and effective communication and leadership with staff and key stakeholders is critical to the success of this position and access to wireless services is necessary.
This position will require traveling.
